Newton lays also the fundaments for the mathematics of Infinitesimal arithmetic. Although Leibnitz is three years earlier in publishing on the same subject. Because of this Newton feels himself forced to make his knowledge public. But strange enough the article is not from his own hand. Newton always remained a bit secretive on his science.

Integral arithmetic gave the sciences a big push in the right direction. Without this method science would have had numerous problems left unsolved. Especially  astronomy gained from this knowledge. One could say that it set the world of astronomy completely upside down.
