In the next years there will be many attempts by different big soft and hardware producers to acquire or merge with other companies with a double aim: Firstly, they buy important knowledge, techniques, and/or licenses by which they receive years of development and research at one time for their company and secondly, it will bring a greater variety of products by which the position to compete with other producers will be greatly improved. In addition, we see many producers starting to enter in a merging or making an attempt to do so. The cause of this development is based in the political arena. In 1992 the EEC will enter its next phase of unity and it will be a free trading zone for persons and goods. Another reason is the stagnating growth of the market. These were some of the causes for the push to larger conglomerates in the computer industry. |
