Biography

Willem Vos(2) holds the chair on “Photonic Media” in the group “Complex Photonic Systems” in the Department of Applied Physics and the MESA+ Instituut of the Universiteit Twente (UT).

His interests include ordered and disordered photonic materials, and soft and hard condensed matter physics.

Chronology

1987

Vos obtained his masters at the Universiteit van Amsterdam

1991

PhD cum laude in Amsterdam for studies of phase transitions at high pressures.

1991-1994

a postdoctoral fellowship at the Geophysical Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington

1994

Performed research at the van der Waals-Zeeman Instituut of the Universiteit van Amsterdam until 2002.
