Krohne Altometer receives NKO certification

Krohne Altometer in Sliedrecht has gained NKO certification for its flow meter calibration facility. This certification, issued on behalf of the customer for exceptional instruments, guarantees that the data provided by the manufacturer on its instruments meets the best possible limits of accuracy. Krohne Altometer is now able to supply the world's largest flow meters with NKO certification. The presentation takes place on 27th March

Ever since it was founded, Krohne Altometer has worked on the continuous improvement of its organisation, staff and products. Over the years it has achieved a number of distinctions, such as a certificate from the Kraftwerk Union (KWU) and ISO-9001 certification. In December 1996 the next milestone in this on-going process of improvement was achieved when the organisation gained the NKO certification. The presentation takes place on 27th March. The requirements for this are set out in the European standard EN 45001 and are monitored in the Netherlands by the Dutch Calibration Organisation (Nederlandse Kalibratie Organisatie, or NKO) in Utrecht.

NKO
NKO certification means that companies or laboratories can substantiate the results of their calibrations. With a product with NKO certification, the customer has the guarantee that the figures that are on the calibration certificate fall within the best possible limits of accuracy. NKO certification allows the owner of the calibration facility to guarantee its customers that the specified values are correct within an uncertainty of 0.02 or 0.03, depending on the test circuit.

NKO certification relates to various sections of ISO-9001 and specifies in great depth the requirements which the calibration must satisfy. In contrast to ISO-9001 certification, NKO certification places requirements on the execution and the reliability of the calibration. This means, for example, that external influences and the technical condition of the calibration facility must also be determined.

NKO certification only applies to instruments that are measured at the certified calibration facility. NKO certification is demanded in particular where meters are used for payment traffic. The certified flow instruments produced by Krohne Altometer are installed in, for example, pipelines for petroleum products, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, drinking and sewage water, OEM and all other electromagnetic conducting and non-conducting liquids.
